WYLDEST QUIET VIOLET

Ahead of Wyldest’s debut album Dream Chaos, the London band share ‘Quiet Violet’. The song explores themes of feminine repression, following dreams and longing for the innocence of childhood, which is paralleled in the subtle imagery of the self-directed video starring Ellen Girdler. We’re confronted with images of domesticity in the home and laundrette, and those of perceived femininity in the red bra and flowers. This societal constraint is contrasted with the freedom of childhood, as represented by the swing and nature. According to the band, both the dream-pop song and accompanying visual “tells the common tale of a struggling adult who succumbs to societal pressures and gets themselves trapped in a life full of broken dreams and frustration. When you do things against your own dreams to please others, it can be easy to find yourself stuck in a life you find hollow and suffocating”. This will be Wyldest’s final song release before their debut album drops on 1st March via Hand In Hive. - Hannah Thacker
